Notes + Feedback
This is my first try at developing my GIF, I ended up choosing the third idea. This third idea consists of me creating a hand made piece of print about how print isn't dead (my point in the essay), showing the loading scanner sign, and then the fully scanned image.
In my first try, I ended up not adding the fully scanned image in the end because I wanted to firstly try and see if it worked, and secondly try to incorporate this waiting but never show up feeling.
Friend Feedback:
While talking to my friend (she is also on this course and doing this task) I asked her for some feedback on this first try and if she had any ideas for me to develop it.
- likes it
- should add the actual scan in the end
- a little too dull
- scan could be a page of a zine I hand make about how print isn't dead
- add some irony to the page
Some phrases I thought about adding:
- Print isn't dead, You are
- What are you looking at I'm just paper
- If print is dead so am I
The GIF Concept
- showcases the 'print is dead' argument;
- while also showing, how I discussed in the essay, that zine designers are now using the digital world as a 'tool' instead of a threat to their work; through the scanning part
Development Notes
Especially in a time like this where I have no access to a print studio or specific materials I had the idea of creating a couple of raw, handmade statement zines in 15 min, all made with reutilized prints I had lying around the house. The zines are about the 'print is dead' argument I discussed in the text.
