Draft of the introduction

The idea that print will cease to exist is a quite scary one for designers like me that are interested in tactile prints. However I believe that print will not 'die', it will just adapt and grow within the digital world. Zines, for example, were always the type of publication that is mainly hand made. Nevertheless, zine designers adapted, and nowadays most are made in softwares like indesign with less fear of making a mistake and ruining the whole thing. Further more, sometimes made by hand and scanned into a computer for printing and distributing/circulating to the public.

I found a couple of projects that distribute and present zine culture in a different way while supporting various artists/designers that adapted themselves into the digital world. The shophouse walking tour kit in japan (in zines) by Kia Kia (mass printed) and the zine-o-maniac website (space in the digital world to buy publications).

Plan of what I am going to write in each section

Introduction: 250 words - what am I writing about; why is it relevant with project and designer examples I will analyze in the main text; explain or deconstruct the question.

Main text. Aim for three in-depth case studies/design references: 1000 words - analysis of three case studies (projects or designers) linking them to the question; (idea+example+analysis+quotations/references+theory+link back to the question).

Conclusion: 250 words - summary; overall conclusion; what this means today and what will mean in the future.
